Model United Nations 2017-2018

For the 6th consecutive year, the Lauder-Reut students’ delegation represented the Lauder Reut Educational Complex at the MUNOB Conference, which brought together over 200 participants from all across Europe.

Following a six year tradition, between April 26th and May 1st 2018, 15 Lauder students  together with two teachers participated in the debates within the MUNOB coference, which took place at the Mihai Viteazu National College in Bucharest.

During five days of fruitful debates, our students showed greater interest in the topics discussed and also developed their social skills, learning from more experienced participants, who came across the ocean to be part of this amazing experience, called MUNOB 2018. Along with the debates, the Lauder delegation took part in a wide variety of social events, namely: the Diplomats’ Soiree, the and the Official Party.

Therefore, here are some of the Lauder participants’ reflections on the event:

MUNOB 2018 was my first experience as a chairperson and I must say it has opened my eyes towards a new perspective and definitely a very interesting one. At this year’s edition I got the chance to chair the wonderful UN Human Rights Council and, in spite of having to deal with more than 20 first-timers,my co-chairs and I managed to make them feel comfortable while speaking up, thus I can proudly say that they did an amazing job. Moreover, I am truly hopeful that these delegates will participate in further MUNs, as they have a great potential of succeeding in this type of conferences. MUNOB was a great learning experience for me as well and I am definitely eager to chair other committees in the future, because I believe this position fits me really well.

MUNOB has introduced me to an amazing world that I have no interest in leaving. It was a very challenging experience, due to the fact that the topics were well chosen and the other delegates were very competitive and well prepared. The committee sessions were a very prolific combination of diplomacy and fun. I was part of the HRC committee, as the delegate of Italy. All of the discussions in the committee were very interactive and the topics also enlarged a big spectrum of ideas to discuss.

I took part in the MUNOB conference between 28th of April-the 1st  of May 2018 at Mihai Viteazul National College. It was a great experience for me that I wish to repeat, besides the experience in MUNs that I gained I also made a lot of new friends not only from Romania, but also from other countries, and I had a lot of fun at the parties. The food was good, too . Overall it was a great experience and I wish to return to MUNOB next year.
